Oi Soi Oi is a Danish design brand that brings Scandinavian sensibility into dialogue with Asian craft traditions — an approach that shows in every shade. The collection at Lulu and Georgia is built around six distinctly named sculptural forms: the ribbed-globe Pumpkin ($698), the graphic disc of the UFO ($646+), the sweeping arc of the Umbrella ($998), the organic curves of the Onion ($587–$794), the elongated Oval ($325+), and the classic Round ($540+). Each shade is handcrafted and designed to function as a design object as much as a light source — diffusing light with a soft, tailored effect that gives quiet dimension to an entry, dining room, or living space. A Hardwired Pendant Light Kit ($45) is available for pairing any shade to an existing ceiling fixture.
What is the Oi Soi Oi collection at Lulu and Georgia?
The Oi Soi Oi collection at Lulu and Georgia is a selection of handcrafted lampshades from the Danish brand Oi Soi Oi, which develops lighting through a material-driven philosophy grounded in sustainability and craft. The collection includes seven pieces: the Pumpkin ($698), UFO ($646+), Round ($540+), Onion ($587–$794), Oval ($325+), and Umbrella ($998) lampshades, plus a Hardwired Pendant Light Kit ($45). All shades are handcrafted and carry the brand’s signature intersection of Danish restraint and Asian craft influence.
What lampshade shapes are in the Oi Soi Oi collection?
Oi Soi Oi’s collection offers six distinct sculptural shade shapes. The Pumpkin Lampshade ($698) features rounded segments that create a softly sculpted, ribbed profile. The UFO Lampshade ($646+) has a flat, graphic disc silhouette. The Onion Lampshade ($587–$794) and Round Lampshade ($540+) offer organic globe forms with slightly different proportions. The Oval Lampshade ($325+) presents a softer elongated shape, and the Umbrella Lampshade ($998) has a broad, arching canopy. Each shape transforms a standard pendant or ceiling fixture into a considered focal point.
What design philosophy defines Oi Soi Oi lampshades?
Oi Soi Oi’s approach is material-driven and rooted in sustainability and handcraft. The brand draws on Danish design tradition — restraint, function, quiet confidence — and layers in Asian craft influences to produce forms that feel both globally informed and grounded. The shades are built around how light is shaped and diffused rather than treating the shade as an afterthought. The result is a soft, tailored effect that gives gentle dimension to a room without competing with it. All pieces in the collection are handcrafted.
