David Erickson’s work explores the ephemeral world of abstraction through the layering of translucent layers of paint, combining controlled and expressive brushstrokes. His subject matter explores themes of memory, location, and spontaneity. He is known for his dynamic and playful style that falls between the boundaries of minimalism and excess. The artist often combines elements of graffiti and calligraphy to explore the interaction between the transparency of paint and the surface of a canvas. David Erickson is a California based artist with a formal education in illustration from the ArtCenter of Design in Pasadena.
